We’re thrilled to announce the Sydney Marathon as a candidate race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors. If successful, Sydney Marathon will join an esteemed group of races, Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, TCS London Marathon, BMW-Berlin Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and TCS New York City Marathon. No city in the world has a better combination of natural beauty, love of sport, and iconic infrastructure for hosting a marathon than Sydney!

Furthermore, in 2024 the event boasts a fresh marathon course, a loyalty rewards program specifically for marathon runners, an extended cut-off time of seven hours, heightened entertainment on the course, and an international travel network to assist in getting you to the start line.

 

Course highlights

Run over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, traffic-free. Finish at the World Famous Sydney Opera House. Run through Centennial Park. Run along Sydney’s harbour foreshore.
