The Hong Kong Ladies Road Runners Club (HKLRRC) was founded in 1979 by Greta Young and a group of keen ladies, with the aim to encouraging more women and girls to run. HKLRRC staged its inaugural race, the Nike Ladies Race, at Black’s Link on 20 January 1980. This was the first ever women’s only race in Hong Kong.

At that time, men joined as associate members. Since 2000, men are welcomed as full members. The club aim remains: to encourage women to run.

The club now organizes three races each year, all of which are unique and popular among Hong Kong runners.
