A Local Marathon running event taking place in Rutland since 2016. The Rutland Marathon is a family organised event at one of the most beautiful venues in the country. The race takes place around the shores of one of Europe’s biggest man made reservoirs. The route includes tarmac, gravel and dirt tracks and includes most the circumference of the lake including the peninsula. The route passes meters from the waters edge and weaves through some of the country’s most precious wetland habitats. You may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of a mighty osprey, even if you don’t you will still encounter some of the best views this picturesque county has to offer. Amenities and facilities are dotted around the route with established tourist spots including car parks, toilets and cafes. The course is incredibly spectator friendly with an excellent road network and series of large parking facilities at regular intervals.
