Africa is claimed by some to be a Runner’s Paradise and Marathons in Africa are famous for providing a unique marathon experience. The Congo River Marathon is a marathon like no other and certainly race participants will definitely look forward to coming back.

The event includes races from Full Marathon of 42,195 km, to Half Marathon of 21,098 km, to the Fun Run of 10 km.

Running through the humid tropical climate of the heart of Kinshasa (Kin La Belle) and it’s vibrant suburbs, the marathon route will take participants across some of the most beautiful scenery along the south bank of the second largest river in Africa.

From a Full and Half Marathon to a 10K Fun Run option, there is something for all running abilities and regardless of distance, each will give the runner a unique perspective of this vibrant city.

This is our biggest running event of the year in Kinshasa, including a Health & Fitness Expo on May 31-June 1, 2024 and a Post Race Gathering.

We also offer Tourism Packages through our Partner Motherland Escapes, that you can schedule before or after the marathon, to experience the beauty of Kinshasa and the DR Congo:

– Explore the beating heart of Kinshasa, it’s Congolese food, music and culture (1/2 Day trip)

– Meet the Bonobos (1/2 Day trip)

– Safari & wildlife explorations and Africas longest zipline (1-2 nights)

– Retreat in safari tents in the endless Savanah landscape (2 nights)

You can run and raise funds for one or more of our 2024 charities Malaika, Bombo Lumene, Friends of Bonobos and Congolicious. Check out our Run for a good cause page on our website.

We can organize a Visa Volant for you (Visa on arrival that is valid for 7 days). That is the easiest way and you don’t have to hand in your passport at the Congolese Embassy. You will receive your Visa Volant 1 month prior to the marathon. Costs are $300 for the Visa Volant and $90 that you have to pay at the airport.
