The Great Serengeti Migration Marathon & Anti-Poaching Run to begin was an idea formed by the event organizer SETSA –Serengeti in 2020. It is a racing event held over two consecutive days organized by Serengeti Tourism Sports Agency (SETSA) which uses sports to promote tourism and attract a numbers of tourists to the western side of the Serengeti National Park. This event’s name comes from one of the biggest events that happens yearly inside the Serengeti National Park, where some of the wildebeests and other Antelopes migrate between Serengeti National park -Tanzania and Maasai Mara National Reserve -Kenya. It is during this time when a large number of tourists visit the Serengeti to witness one of the world’s natural wonders.
This event will allow participants to not just witness the migration but to be part of it by running between the groups of migrating wild animals along the Serengeti National Park, Ikona WMA, Ikorongo & Grumeti game reserves. The numbers of our runners would then go on safari to Serengeti national park after their run. Participants will include both local and foreign, however; there will be special fun runs for local companies, institutions and special groups.
