Participating in the Enschede Marathon means that you can cross the oldest and therefore very first marathon of the Netherlands and Western Europe off your list! The first edition took place in 1947 and in 2022 we have celebrated our 75th anniversary.
The fast route and good facilities ensure fast finishing times. Run across the campus of the University of Twente, run the F35 (so called cycle highway) and run through the fantastic H.J. van Heekpark before finishing in the bustling city centre. 80,000 supporters will enthusiastically encourage you!
The start and finish will be at Enschede’s prominent landmark, the Alpha Tower on the Boulevard 1945. Runners travel through Lonneker, a small village on the outskirts of Enschede, before moving towards Galnerburg. The entire re-built district of Roombeek also lies in the path of the marathon as the runners come towards the starting-point, at Boulevard 1945, to complete the first of two 21.1km loops.
