There’s lots of choice at the Bungay Festival of Running. As well as the Full Marathon, there’s the Half Marathon, 10 km and 5 km races. You can also enter the Double Doggie, race both the 10 km and Half Marathon on the same day. There is also a Fun Run entirely on our sports ground, distance approximately 800 m. The Marathon course (26 miles 385 yards) and the Half Marathon course (13 miles 192.5 yards) are classified as multi-terrain courses, as is the 10 km race. The 5 km race is a measured road race with an accuracy certificate. The Bungay Marathon and Half Marathon had measurement accuracy certificates until 2013. In 2014 both officially became multi-terrain courses. The courses therefore do not have current measurement accuracy certificates, but have Statements of Course Measurement.  The surface of a path (1.7 miles long) had deteriorated to the point where measurement accuracy was no longer sufficient. The course itself has not changed. The 10 km course uses the same path and is therefore also classified as multi-terrain. The marathon course is 2 laps of a 13.1 mile loop through the scenic Waveney Valley of Suffolk and Norfolk.  The half marathon course […]

The popular race is a firm favourite on the Welsh running calendar, boasting one of the flattest marathon courses in Europe. Over 70% of all finishers have claimed a PB on a route that offers iconic landmarks, like the city’s Transporter Bridge and the stunning scenery of the Gwent Levels – with its coastal wildlife and picturesque medieval villages. The fast and fun supporting 10K race, which attracts some of the UK’s top athletes, gives runners of all abilities the opportunity to get involved in the festival of running, without committing to the challenging 26.2-mile distance. Newport is definitely a city on the rise, steeped in history with a multi-cultural vibe – complete with artisan breweries and a rich musical heritage. Races start and finish on the vibrant riverfront in the heart of the regenerated city-centre, where runners can expect electric atmosphere and a high-level of event organisation alongside a warm Welsh welcome. Choose 5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon, 50k ultra or 60k Ultra set in private areas of Sherwood Forest & the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Park; next to a Grade1 listed 19th Century country house in north Nottinghamshire; Thoresby Hall. Running over old military roads, cleared tracks through ancient woodland and grassed paths around the country estate. The route includes a few hills to offer a small challenge around the course in the most scenic countryside & forest. The elevation is noted on the downloadable course map. The course has very firm hard ground if dry but if we get a lot of rain then there can also be a few muddy areas to run through. Nothing looks more beautiful than the sunlight streaming through the leaves in this natural area of beauty. We have devised a race that takes you into Nottinghamshire’s National Nature Reserve, through private areas that were once part of the 10,000 acres Royal Forest of Sherwood where the woodland is dominated by native Oaks as well as other native trees including Silver Birch, Rowan, Holly and Hawthorn. The reserve is also the site of Europe’s oldest Oak tree woodland, containing over 1000 Oaks most of which are over 500 years […]

As Britain’s only coastal National Park, Pembrokeshire is justifiably famous for its rugged cliffs, quiet coves, expansive sandy bays, picturesque coastal village and its abundance of marine life. The coastal trails here are wild and exposed, with undulating terrain and spectacular views. The 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra courses are challenging but the views presented to you around each corner make this a beautiful course that must be experienced. https://www.endurancelife.com/event.asp?RL=1&loc=pembrokeshire

The Bath Beat is an event usually held in April at the edge of the beautiful city of Bath. This year’s event will be on Saturday 25th April 2020.  Starting on the southeastern edge of the city The Bath Beat takes the walker or runner out into the countryside through the woods, hills and river valleys of this southerly edge of The Cotswolds. There are four distances of 12.5, 17, 21 and the popular 26.5 miles, all pass several check points where there are always plenty of home made cakes and sandwiches to keep you going. On the 21 and 26 mile routes, there is hot food and drinks provided in a hall half way around. Entry also includes recovery, should you not be able to make it back under your own steam, a certificate for those who do make it, and plenty of food and drink. All routes follow public footpaths and also go along a historical disused canal and across farmland with scenic views. The longest route will visit the villages of Bathford, Avoncliffe, Hinton Charterhouse, Norton St Philip, Wellow and Combe Hay before returning to Bath on the Somerset Coal Canal and the village of Midford. There is a […]
