As Britain’s only coastal National Park, Pembrokeshire is justifiably famous for its rugged cliffs, quiet coves, expansive sandy bays, picturesque coastal village and its abundance of marine life. The Bath Beat is an event usually held in April at the edge of the beautiful city of Bath. This year’s event will be on Saturday 25th April 2020.  Starting on the southeastern edge of the city The Bath Beat takes the walker or runner out into the countryside through the woods, hills and river valleys of this southerly edge of The Cotswolds. There are four distances of 12.5, 17, 21 and the popular 26.5 miles, all pass several check points where there are always plenty of home made cakes and sandwiches to keep you going. On the 21 and 26 mile routes, there is hot food and drinks provided in a hall half way around. Entry also includes recovery, should you not be able to make it back under your own steam, a certificate for those who do make it, and plenty of food and drink. All routes follow public footpaths and also go along a historical disused canal and across farmland with scenic views. The race is often described as a flat and fast coastal marathon. The course takes runners along the Blackpool seafront past the many sights, including Golden Mile, St Annes and Lytham. It is very popular with runners looking to achieve a PB. The race starts in Blackpool. From there runners head south to Lytham st Annes where they turn and run back towards Cleveleys before turning south again.
