The Rimi Vilnius Marathon is an annual city marathon, held in Vilnius, Lithuania. First introduced in 2001 as 10k race it evolved to a classic marathon in 2004. The half marathon was introduced in 2006. The Rimi Vilnius Marathon is AIMS certified since 2007. It is one of the fastest growing marathons in the Baltics and the biggest running festival in Lithuania. Vilnius itself is a centre of attraction to the runners from all over the world- the old town of the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city preserved an impressive complex of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and classical buildings as well as its medieval layout and natural setting. The Budapest Marathon is part of a 2-day festival all about running. On Sunday the focus is on the marathon, however, you may also run 30 km, a marathon in a team of 2 or 4.
