The Borneo Marathon is a marathon held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia. The inaugural race was held on October 12, 2008. This is the first marathon in the state for over 20 years. The first marathon in Sabah was held in 1984 and it was called the Daily Express Sabah Marathon. The next marathon was called the Borneo International Marathon (BIM). BIM was organized by Championship Sport Events Sdn. Bhd., helmed by Mr. Andrew Voon as the Race Director as well as the person instrumental in organizing the Borneo International Marathon. The first BIM had three categories, 10km, 21km and 42km and was participated by a mere 529 runners. Founded in 1995, the Prague Marathon, is known to be one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. The Leiden Marathon is known for its good organization, personal attention for every runner, enthusiastic spectators and fine atmosphere. With the most beautiful course in The Netherlands with start and finish in the heart of an 900-year old city (where Rembrandt was born and the Pilgrims Fathers lived for 12 years). The marathon of Leiden (also called Leiden Marathon) is a running race over 42,195 km, held annually in Leiden since 1991. For the full marathon with a time limit of six hours applies. A Marathon with mountain flavors between the towns of Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Seez. A double loop of 21,097KM, the race follows small paved country roads, in a wooded, green and shaded setting. The course is hilly with small hills along the cycle path which runs along the Isère on loan of 10KM.
